Subject: BETTER THAN AWFUL, LESS THAN GRAND

Based on 11 years inhaling the vaporized popcorn oil that clouds the Penn Station concourse, 6 observations regarding BETTER THAN AWFUL, LESS THAN GRAND:

1. Please do not forget the Port Authority Bus Terminal and the George Washington Bridge Bus Station when discussing Manhattan’s most dismal gateways.

2. The Farley post office is a fabulous architectural monument.

3. MSG/Penn Station was built on the ruins of a demolished structure that mirrored Farley’s facade.

4. The brilliance of two mirrored opposing structures like Farley and the old Penn Station, mirrors the brilliance of the two identical adjacent towers of the original WTC.

5. Farley’s twin was destroyed by civic vandals with taxpayer dollars; the Twin Towers, by terrorists.

6. That Guinness-and-oysters pub is indeed the bright spot in the blight spot that is the Penn Station Concourse.
